This group collaborative project was intended to produce a short puzzle focused gameplay experience that had been polished to near industry expectation. I was selected as the technical lead for this assignment and in my role I delivered a laser redirection puzzle mechanic that utilised UE4’s line traces, which (at the time) was an aspect of UE4 that I hadn’t previously experimented with. The primary challenge presented by this game’s development was the need for the player to be incapable of pushing a block beyond the bounds of the grid, while being capable of pushing said block from any side. The final result is a well balanced and enjoyable game with no known glitches.

Enlightment is a grid based puzzle game where you as the player are tasked with locating and relocating a selection of blocks around the (maze like) level in such a configuration that the light beams are reflected into their respective gates. With a limited selection blocks of contrasting rotations at your disposal determining the correct configuration of the level is paramount.
