This initial engines focused project towards my foundation degree was intended to be a demonstration of my ability to develop gameplay mechanics. This assessment did not require the application of the required mechanics to be integrated into a full game loop, however it felt only natural to do so. I also integrated my own additional mechanics (of jump pads and the vortex tunnel sequence), which adds greater traversal, and in turn a higher octane gameplay experience.

Created In Unreal Engine 4.25.4

Retro Blitz is a time attack FPS shooter with a retro arcade visual theme. Set on a space station you as the player are against the clock to accumulate as many points as possible by shooting the colourful orbs spread throughout the level, but be cautious of your health which is decreasing perpetually. With the orbs spawning randomly it occasionally makes sense to venture into the vortex tunnel to quickly accumulate points.
